About Me

I have a background in digital design with over 20 years of industry experience. As an advocate of user-centered design, I focus on a clean style by using the metrics and research-driven design approach to creating websites and apps. From owning and running a full-service web design firm to working in large corporations, I bring a broad-based perspective to any team or project.

Background

I come from a background of graphic designers and attended college at The Art Institute of Dallas. I started working in graphic design and multimedia for various studios in Austin, TX during the mid-nineties. About five years of my career has been spent creating illustrations and animations in the e-learning industry for a wide range of topics. As the web became more popular, I shifted my focus to website design and front end development. I founded and ran a full service, one-man, web design studio for ten years and sold it in 2011. I then worked as a designer in marketing in several larger corporations including Xerox, Dun & Bradstreet and WP Engine.

Currently

I run a web design and marketing agency building WordPress websites for small business at WPSiteKit.com. I also built and run several websites including CostaRicaTripKit.com, TrekTexas.com and MoneyTreeSeed.com.

Influencers

I’m all ears to people like Seth Godin, Jeffrey Zeldman, and the guys at 37signals. I’m inspired to work hard and play hard by people like Tim FerrisGary Vaynerchuk, and Mark Cuban. I learn best practices published on sites like Smashing Magazine, A List Apart, and Nielsen Norman Group. I also participate in local communities like Dribbble Austin, Refresh Austin, and Lean User Experience Austin.
